Reports: Providence sophomore Bryce Cotton to transfer

Looks like Providence head coach Ed Cooley is preparing to lose another sophomore guard. Just days after Gerard Coleman announced he would transfer from PC, reports began to surface that Bryce Cotton would also leave the program.

The Providence Journal is reporting that Cotton asked for his release, but when asked about the situation Cooley claimed it was just “speculation.”

However, AreaCodesBasketball.com has confirmed that Cotton has gotten his release from PC.

It’s hard to only speculate on a Friar possibly leaving the program these days. Along with Coleman, sophomore center Ron Giplaye is looking to transfer. Junior forward Bilal Dixon will not be returning, as the redshirt has another year of eligibility and it appears he will play that at Towson to play for former Providence coach Pat Skerry.

Providence is becoming a revolving door of backcourt players these past few weeks. An incoming freshman class of Kris Dunn, Ricardo Ledo, and Josh Fortune, was joined by Ian Baker earlier this week.

Cotton averaged 14.3 points per game for Providence this season.
